We are a solar powered woodworking shop.

Hi- I’m Steve Gougeon and I run a small custom woodworking shop in Ashfield, Massachusetts. We specialize in cabinetry and furniture built for your space, taste, budget and needs. Coming from a family of carpenters and craftspeople and with many years of building professionally, including furniture, cabinets, remodeling, and general contracting, I am ready to help you make the most of your space.

Cabinetry: We can outfit your kitchen, bath, home office, entry, or other living space with cabinetry built specifically for you, often at costs similar to modular, factory built cabinets. We can work with plans that you or your contractor provide, or help you design your space. Check out the cabinet gallery for examples of past work.

Furniture: Do you wish you could find a bookshelf that would fit in the corner, or a chest with just the right size drawers, or a table and chairs for your kids? We can build items of furniture that will fit in your home, suit your style, and do exactly the job that you want. You can choose freestanding or built-in furniture. We can work off pictures or brainstorm with you or you designer/architect to build exactly what you want. Check out the furniture gallery for some examples.

Green Building: We strive to build products that are healthy for you and our environment by working in a solar powered shop and using natural and water based finishes and glues, formaldehyde-free veneer plywoods, and durable, long-lasting hardware. Whenever possible, we prefer to use woods native to this region, and woods that are certified by the Forest Stewardship Council.
